KARACHI,  Sep. 10 (APP)- India has assured Pakistan to withdraw its objection  against duty-free access by European Union to 75 Pakistani products. This was stated by the Federal Advisor on Textile Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig here on Saturday.  He said that  Pakistani High  Commissioner to India Shahid Malik has told him that Indian Prime  Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has agreed to withdraw their objection at  WTO, in the forthcoming meeting in October 2011.  
 He said the formal announcement is  expected at the forthcoming meeting of Pakistani and Indian Commerce  Ministers scheduled to be held in Delhi on September 28-29, 2011.
Dr. Baig who is accompanying the Commerce Minister to Delhi, called it a significant measure for confidence building to improve bilateral relations between the two countries.
It may be noted that Indian government had objected at WTO on EU decision to allow duty free access to 75 products from Pakistan to support its economy affected by the devastated flood last year.
Dr. Baig said that he has also taken up this matter with Secretary General, Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry Dr. Rajiv Kumar and he has assured to take up the matter with Indian Prime Minister.
Dr Baig thanked Secretary Commerce Zafar Mehmood, Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar and Minister for Textile Makhdoom Shahabuddin for their continuous efforts in this regard.
